Hanamishima” series earthenware pots made by GINPO Japan (Ginpo Toki), a top brand of earthenware pots that has been loved since 1972. It is a timeless masterpiece. Made in Yokkaichi, Mie Prefecture, the largest production center of earthenware pots.
Among the many earthenware pots produced in Yokkaichi (Banko-Ware), this series is widely used not only for general household use but also for commercial use because of its excellent heat resistance and sturdiness.
Since it can be used with gas, oven, and induction heat sources, it is possible to prepare food cooked in the kitchen and serve it at the dining table, or to prepare ingredients and cook them together at the dining table with family or friends.
In winter, a potluck with family and friends is very social and exceptionally tasty!

This product can be used with an induction cooker by attaching the included stainless steel plate to the bottom of the pot.

Please press the stainless steel plate firmly into place to prevent it from coming off. If the plate is installed with the pan upside down or not fitted, it will not respond to induction cooking.
Remove the stainless steel plate when using with gas, oven, or other cooking utensils.

How to wash an earthenware pot after use
Wash only after the pot has cooled down.
If water is added to a hot earthenware pot, the pot may crack due to a sudden change in temperature. Wash only after the pot has cooled enough to touch.

Use a soft sponge.
Be careful about the amount of force you use when washing earthenware pots. If you use too much force, fine scratches may form on the pot, and the pot may deteriorate from there. Use a soft sponge.

Do not use detergent.
Do not use detergent or bleach, as the odor may seep into the clay pot. If washing in cold water does not remove the stain, use lukewarm water and a small amount of detergent to quickly wash the pot.

Do not leave it to soak.
Do not leave the pot in water. Avoid soaking the pot in water, as this will allow water to penetrate into the interior of the pot and make it brittle.

When storing earthenware pots
Dry it thoroughly.
Earthen pots are made of clay, which absorbs water very well. Therefore, simply wiping the surface after washing may not be sufficient to dry the inside of the pot. Storing a pot with moisture remaining in it can cause mold to grow. After washing the earthenware pot, turn it upside down in a well-ventilated place to dry it thoroughly.

Wrap it in newspaper.
If the earthenware pot will not be used for a while, it should be wrapped in newspaper to avoid moisture. At this time, it is important to store them without stacking them on top of other pots, as stacking them on top of each other can easily damage them. If the pot still has mold or a musty smell, add vinegar or lemon juice to the water and boil it for about an hour to remove the mold and musty smell.

If the earthenware pot smells musty
Boil tea leaves.
If mold is not the cause, but the earthenware pot somehow smells bad, boiling tea leaves is recommended. Earthen pots are highly water absorbent, and food odors tend to migrate to them. If you are concerned about the unpleasant smell inside an earthenware pot, add water and tea leaves and boil them for about one hour. Let it cool down sufficiently, and then flush it with water, and the smell should disappear and clear up.
